Types of Wood Pallet

The combination of various pallet types and structures results in a wide variety of pallet structures. The following list gives only the basic pallet structure types which are most often used in our area.

EURO pallets

The EURO pallet is a “four-way” pallet; therefore, a forklift truck or other handling equipment may handle it from all four sides. (A pallet jack may handle the pallet only from the shorter sides as the longer sides are sealed at the bottom by the pallet structure).

The dimensions of the EURO pallet conform to the specifications of the International Union of Railways (UIC) and to the specifications of the European Pallet Association (EPAL). The dimensions of the EURO pallet derive from the dimensions of railway carriages.

As the EURO pallets are returnable, further degrees of their wear are specified as well:

  • EURO pallet A - is of light colour, clean, free of moist mould, all feet have sharp edges without chipping, and the stringers are not damaged.

  • EURO pallet B - is of darker colour, grey or dark brown, free of moist mould, all feet have sharp edges without chipping, and the stringers are not damaged. Repairs are permitted.

  • EURO pallet C - is of light or dark colour, damaged, some components may be missing, the deckboard and feet may be split; despite the damage, the pallet keeps its original shape. The unit must be repaired for further use.

EURO pallet

Dimensions: 1200×800×144 mm. Pallet weight is approximately 20–24 kg, depending on wood moisture. The manufacturing process is precisely defined. The EURO pallet has a load capacity of up to 1500 kg; no more than three EURO pallets may be stacked.

EURO pallet 2

Dimensions: 1200×1000×144 mm. The pallet contains seven deckboards; the boards on the sides are double. The bottom of the structure is sealed, not allowing the use of pallet jacks.

EURO pallet 3

Dimensions: 1000×1200×144 mm. The pallet contains seven deckboards; the boards on the sides are double. This is a four-way pallet (two-way for pallet jacks).

EURO paleta 6

Dimensions: 800×600×144 mm. The pallet contains seven deckboards, all of them of identical width. This is a four-way pallet (two-way for pallet jacks).

One-way pallets

As standard, they are produced in sizes 1200×800 and 1200×1000 mm, as an alternative to the returnable EURO pallet. Specific selection of board thickness, width, and matching feet or stringers may produce pallets of varying load capacity. In the case of overseas transport, IPPC treatment is usually required.

Lightweight one-way pallet

  • 1200×1000×123 mm
  • Four-way
  • Load capacity up to 300 kg
  • 5 deckboards

Medium-weight one-way pallet

  • 1200 x 1000 x 124 mm
  • Four-way
  • Load capacity up to 500 kg
  • 7 deckboards

Medium-weight one-way pallet

  • 1200 x 1000 x 146 mm
  • Four-way
  • Load capacity up to 750 kg
  • 7 deckboards

Medium-weight one-way pallet

  • 1200 x 1000 x 146 mm
  • Four-way
  • Load capacity up to 1000 kg
  • Full surface

Heavy-duty one-way pallet

  • 1200 x 1000 x 146 mm
  • Two-way
  • Load capacity up to 1000 kg
  • Full surface
  • Feet replaced with stringers

CP pallets

CP pallets have been developed in cooperation with the Chemical Industry Association. They are manufactured in nine variations which differ in size, material, and load capacity.

CP1 pallet

  • 1200 x 1000 x 138 mm
  • Four-way
  • Returnable
  • Load capacity up to 1000 kg

CP2 pallet

  • 1200 x 800 x 138 mm
  • Four-way
  • Returnable
  • Load capacity up to 1000 kg

CP3 pallet

  • 1140 x 1140 x 138 mm
  • Four-way
  • Returnable
  • Load capacity up to 1000 kg

CP4 pallet

  • 1300 x 1100 x 138 mm
  • Four-way
  • Returnable
  • Load capacity up to 1000 kg

Pallet types CP6 and CP7 have the same plane dimensions as the variations above, yet they contain additional lower boards which create an enclosed framework and increase the load capacity to 1500 kg.
